Lunarpages Hosting

Well, maybe you haven’t noticed about that but TheAkiba is now on Lunarpages! I bought the hosting last Saturday and the account was approved yesterday. Transfering files from my old Dreamhost server to the new Lunarpages server cost little time and I finished all the work in less than one day. And when I woke up this morning I backuped and restore the database in Lunarpages and then modified my Name Server to the Lunarpages one. And in less than four hour, TheAkiba is totally transferred and now we are on Lunarpages.

This is not some kind of advertisement but announcement. And I’d like to share some experiences with those who out there trying to get a new server.

Why do I choose Lunarpages? The first reason is simple and mainly because they provide lots of payment method that is rarely seen in other hosting providers. And the cost is as low as $4.95/month but this is only a special winter offer which means you can buy one year or two with a payment of $4.95 per month in a limited period. Very much lower than other providers, say, like my previous one Dreamhost (you will need to pay about $9/month if you only want to buy a one-year plan).

Their services are outstanding. I asked them 5 or 6 questions yesterday about the payment, domain names, affiliates and other stuffs. They answered quickly and responsed well. Probably I may find them suck one day in the future ^^, but they’re just awesome right now.

I’d like to say something about the basic plan of Lunarpages. They do give you a domian name for free but it’s only for one year, and you will have to renew your domain name next year in the regular price at about $9 per year. But that’s quite reasonable and I do have my own domain name so this is not bothering me at all.

In a nutshell, Lunarpages is just fine despite all those negative responses, but I’ll still need time to find out how it performces.
