Ever since the first episode, Hyouka (氷菓) has been my favorite TV Anime series of this Spring. The first part of the series ended last week and I really enjoyed the show. This week we are featuring Eru Chitanda (千反田える), the female protagonist of the series. If you a big fan of Anime, you might be heard of Satomi Satou (佐藤聡美), the voice actress behind Eru and probably best known for her role as Ritsu Tainaka (田井中律) in K-ON! (けいおん!), as well as Manami Tamura (田村麻奈実) in Oreimo (俺妹). But my first impression of Satomi Satou is the role as Aria Shichijou (七条アリア) in Seitokai Yakuindomo (生徒会役員共) talking about all the Ecchi but interesting jokes.

Illustration of the Week 10: Guilty Crown

Finally, the first episode of all the series of the Fall season were aired. And one of the last, Guilty Crown, is probably the one that you should never miss. We had a wonderful time watching the first episode of the series, the animation is close to movie quality, the character design is cool, and the most impressive one to me, the music. The series starts with the OP performed by our female protagonist (well, we know supercell is actually singing the song), which instantly turn out to be the track that I most expect of the season. I will come up with the recommended series of the season later this week, but the list may be probably too long since I am actually following 90% of all the new series.

Cute illustration of female protagonist Inori Yuzuriha (楪いのり), vocalist of the Internet band Egoist in the series. Looks like all the members of the Egoist band are from the resistance group. Illustration of the Week 9: Blood-C

All the Summer series are on the half way and we still have another month before the October. Quite like some of the series like Yuru Yuri and Natsume Yuujinchou. However, some of the series are quite difficult for me to decide whether it’s good or bad, like Blood-C. The series is quite flat during the first few episodes, and suddenly in the recent two episodes, all the things changed. Too much blood and even friends became enemies. That was a risky change of the plot and you may say the “peaceful” first half of the series is used as a comparison to the second half of fierce fights. Lots of friends recommended me to follow the series, and I did. Still difficult to totally understand the plot but will continue follow it.

Other things in mind. Am about to go back to campus in two weeks and guess it’s time for me to get roundup of what I did during the Summer break. We have set up a weekly newsletter and thanks for folks who opt in. We will send out the first issue at the first weekend of the September and hope you guys will like it. Also, we have a new channel for Anime bloggers which is still in beta, Akiba Network. If you have a blog and write your own posts, you are welcomed to join in.

Last but not least, our Facebook Fan Page finally reached 500 fans. Thanks for all the folks and we are going to make it a better place for you in the future.

Second month of the season, wonder how many TV Anime series did you guys drop. Me? Dozen of them. Most series stay in the grey area where you can either watch or not, it’s all depends on you. Of course, we have our recommendation here and you may want to check out if you like. Currently working on two news projects that may put forward in the coming weeks. Hope they will bring more useful stuffs to our readers.

Illustration of the Week 7: Hana-Saku Iroha

Have you watched the latest episode of April TV Anime series Hana-Saku Iroha? Well, you should. There are tons of sea and beach, as well as Bikinis. If it is not the primary reason that you watch the episode, what else should it be? I have always complained that Yuina Wakura (和倉結名) only shows up from time to time and she appears to me no longer a main character. However, this time, we can see how and what this girl really is. It is surprised that she has a fiance and it is even more surprise that she dumps him at the end of the episode. To me, I am glad she did. She is a nice girl and I know that some of you may not agree. And she is now officially my favorite character of the series

As you might have noticed that we have switch back to the WordPress built-in comment system and yes, something new is about to come since we are going to integrate BuddyPress into our platform. Still there are tons of work to do before we can unveil the new version to the public, including a modified theme for the upcoming social networking platform.

So, I was overjoyed. First, I finally able to get Adsense back to the site. The previous suspend seemed to be something to do with the content. So, honestly I would like to ask whether you guys find TheAkiba the NSFW one? We don’t post anything that is not suitable for most of the people and if there were any, we warn you with a NSFW signal first (I am sure that you barely find any). But Google always seem to be over cautious and people on the forum and blogs always complaining that their site being suspended by Google. And for those who surfer from the same problem, all you need to do is to remove anything that may go against Google’s policy and tell the world that you obey what Google ask. It seems mindless but it’s true if you need to use Adsense as part of your revenue. Luckily (really?), we don’t generate too much earning from Adsense and it won’t affect a lot even if the site won’t produce any cash flow since we do it with a personal interests. But of course, if would be much better if that interest paid off.

Second thing in my mind, would be the coming July, the coming new Anime series and the new Mac OS X Lion. If you have already read our latest new Anime guide for this July, you may find out what you want to follow. It will be a great season and so far I was pleased with most of the series and a little bit sorry with the previous season.

About the illustration this week, it’s the beloved Hana-Saku Iroha. The series is going have around 26 episodes, so there are plenty to watch still. Enjoy the nice scan.

Illustration of the Week 5: STEINS;GATE

It has been a while since the previous post and I am now totally back to the usual schedule. The exams are done and things are back to normal and kind of enjoying these moments when you can do something you really enjoy doing.

The illustration this week is the series fills will many cute girls surrounding the Chuunibyou (中二病) male protagonist. Not many comments for the hero but the girls are so perfectly described and love them all whether you have watched the series or not. Enjoy the cute scan below.

Another thing in mind. Recently have witness some strange phenomenon out there and people these days seem to have a strong desire for Apple related products. Apple has been hot these days and ever since the introduction of the iPhone, the company potentially out beat the competitors and also outperform Google and become the most value brand in the world. Personally, even though I use Mac and even though I have an iPhone, I am not really an Apple fans. Probably because of how Apple performs in front of the media or how they price their products, or how they lure customers without really caring about them. I am totally not at the side of the company.

But I am always a Microsoft fans, ever since a young age when I first met my 486 PC which runs on DOS. But Microsoft is going the down side and probably will continue for a long time. Without Bill who is my hero of all time backing up and guiding the company, Microsoft should make a change or else we can see the falling giant in a short coming future. And to prove that I am a Microsoft fans, I just bought a Microsoft mouse for my Macbook Pro and my one day experience is: OMG, I will never use an Apple mouse again.

So much for the topic and wish you all have a nice summer holiday.

How is your week folks? It was a busy week for me, will have the final exam next month but still have a paper due. Probably need to spend more time on it. Back to the topic, have you guys watched the first episode of the series Hidan no Aria (緋弾のアリア)? If you haven’t, you might want to check out our latest post of the impression of the series before you do. The overall quality of the series is quite good and it definitely worth spend your 24 minutes watching it.

Illustration of the Week 3: GOSICK

Anime series of the Winter season GOSICK is about to arrived at the mid-point of the story. The TV Anime of the series is about to air a total of 24 episodes, which is much generous than those series end up at 12 or 13 episodes.

I was not very interested in the series in the first place, of course, before watching the first episode. And after I did, and I am glad that I did, I fell in love which this attractive story, together with the characters. Our hero Kazuya Kujo (久城一弥) is a much better guy than those in the Harem Anime. He performs like a man when he needs to protect the one he cares. Victorica (ヴィクトリカ), the heroine of the series, is a cute girl, even she dressed in a Gothic Lolita fashion, even though she reminds me of Conan the detective and even she smokes Okay, maybe I should tell you her age. But let’s be kind and gentle not to mention that.

Illustration of the Week 2: Infinite Stratos

Just a week passed the mid point of the season. Wonder how is everybody enjoy following their series. The site might slow down a little bit on updates since I will have a midterm in two weeks, as well as a new website project to start after that. And about the new project, it would have nothing to do with Anime and Japan this time. It’s a totally new project to me and have planned it for a few months. Back to the illustration of this week. It’s the widely discussed Infinite Stratos again. In this week’s episode, Sharuru finally becomes Charlotte and the mini-skirt she wears is just…awesome. And also sadly to see that Charlotte takes shower with the stupid Ichika. Anyway, enjoy the nice scan rather than Charlotte
