With a name of AKB0048, the series probably gives you a feeling of some GUNDAM Anime, and it is true that the series will be directed by Kawamori Shouji (河森 正治) who is also the director behind Macross Frontier. You can already smell the Mecha. The audition for the Anime will consist of 9 winners from among the 200 members of AKB48 and its sister groups SKE48, NMB48, and HKT48 while the final audition will take 30 contestants and pick the final winners on December 13 in Tokyo. Sounds like The Apprentice, right? If you are living in Japan, you can apply for a ticket for the audition on the official website before December 4. Hurry up since they only offer 100 tickets. At the same time, the official website also reveals 4 Manga series will be serialized in four magazines before the premiere of the Anime. Why four?
