Anime ChannelAugust 3, 2010Fire Emblem OVA0by shane3x 659 days ago Fire Emblem is a series of games which have spanned over the last 20 years. With the release of a new Fire Emblem game in Japan (English release date isn’t known yet) I thought it would be nice to introduce you to some of the other media that the series has produced. The series isn’t known for it’s mainstream popularity so there is a good chance you have never played one of it’s 12 games or seen any related Media (which is even more niche then the games). Essentially Fire Emblem is a Tactical RPG, which puts an emphasis on combat and strategy rather than exploration by moving units via a grid. The latest game is a enhanced remake of the third game in the series which was originally on the Super Famicom (SNES). When it first came out the game itself contained a remake of the first game along with a continuation of it’s own which was separated into two ‘books’. Although the very first game in the series had been remade late 2008/early 2009 so the newest game contains only book 2 from the third game. The first game in the series (along with it’s remake) has a very basic storyline and essentially this is what happens every chapter.Marth: “We are here because of X, now kill Y” An OVA series was going to be produced based of Book 1 and 2 from the third game, but it only ever produced two episodes before it was shut down. This was released in English a year after the Japanese release which was odd considering the fact the Western market had never received any Fire Emblem games, and didn’t until 2004.This is very disappointing because the actual Anime is great. Considering when it was released, I think the does very well. The additional dialogue and story actually serve a purpose which enhances it, unlike many Animes who’s additional parts only serve as fillers (Looking at you Dragon Ball Z). I definitely do recommend purchasing the DVD if you are a fan of the series. If your wondering, this is the game/anime which Marth from Super Smash Bros. belong to.
