Guilty Crown: The Best and Most Expected Anime Series this Fall9

If you think it is difficult to determine what will be the best Anime series coming this Fall because none of them were aired, then you may get it wrong. It’s totaly feasible to say which will be the best and you can just tell it from all the available sources and materials across the web, the PVs, the official websites, the original products (if there were any), the leaked pics and character design, the directors and staffs, and so forth. And judging from what I have just provided, I would like to say the the very best series of this Fall is, Guilty Crown, the series that we are going to cover below.

Guilty Crown

In case I forget, if you haven’t checked out the list that we posted for the coming series this Fall, you should take a look at it here. And in my mind, only Fate/Zero and Mirai Nikki (未来日記) can ever compete with it.

Guilty Crown Staff

First, the director of the series is Araki Tetsurou (荒木 哲郎), who is also the director of Death Note and Highschool of the Dead; series composition by Hiroyuki Yoshino (吉野 弘幸), who has also done series composition for Mai-HiME and Code Geass; assistant series composition by Ichirou Oukouchi (大河内 一楼), who has also participate in Mahou Sensei Negima! and Code Geass; original character design by redjuice; music by ryo (supercell); production studio, Production I.G.. And all those names look like a combination of confidence and guarantee of success to me.

Guilty Crown: Shu Ouma

Next come the official website and the plot. Apart from all those big names, the official website is extremely well done, even with the outdated Flash technology instead of HTML5. Here is the plot summary:

After the outbreak of the unidentified virus “Lost Christmas” in 2029, Japan has been under the control of a multi-nation organization called GHQ. Ohma Shu is a 17 year old boy who has a psychic power in his right hand. He can use the power “Ability of King” to extract tools or weapons from his friends. He has been avoiding making trouble for others but his life changes when he meets a girl Yuzuriha Inori, a member of a resistance guerrilla group called “Undertaker”, whose members pilot mecha weapons to fight against the government. (Plot summary via ANN)

Guilty Crown: Inori Yuzuhira

If you read Japanese, you can understand the reason people are calling this series the next Code Geass. In the promotion video (check it below), we heard it mentioned that “the power of King” which is similar to the description of the power of Lelouch, the male protagonist of Code Geass. Even the setting is a bit similar, two male friends with a mysterious girl who is a internet idol.

So, you are waiting for the third season of Code Geass? Take a relax and ready for the next big thing. Ready to blow your mind, watch the PV below:

I agree with Hotsuma. I have watched the 20 episodes of Guilty Crown that have been released as subs so far, and excuse me for the pun, but Guilty Crown is my guilty pleasure. Gripping plotline, definitely different characters, and artwork and soundtrack that are just amazing. Production I.G. have gone above and beyond with this series, often incorporating new ideas that don't actually seem all that unrealistic. I first heard about this from some of my friends, they had been raving on and on about it when I used to meet them. Me being me, I hate being not-in-the-know, so I decided to give Guilty Crown a go. And you know what, it didn't disappoint. For me, there was not a single second that Guilty Crown disappointed me. The animation was top-notch - as to be expected of Production I.G. - and some of the backgrounds are just amazing. Blasts and explosions are done beautifully as well. Several people have disagreed with the characters, however I love them. They're not your stereotypical tsunderes or yanderes, instead they are just like normal people with a different perspective on life. The way how they are portrayed makes me feel like I know them better, and also draws me into the story even further. 'Apocalypse' stories such as Guilty Crown, Ergo Proxy, Texhnolyze etc. are definitely some of the best ones out there. I can't reveal much of the plotline for obvious reasons, however I was absolutely hooked by the first episode. I wanted to know what happened next. Definitely a must-watch. If you don't like it, then that's fine. Araki Tetsurou has done well to direct such a nail-biting anime that leaves you on the edge of your seat. And, he's done well to direct one of the best Heroic BSoD's I've seen in anime, ever. Sure, haters can hate. But I believe that Guilty Crown is definitely a treasure to behold.

Haters will hate, I just wish the likers would understand that the haters have a point.

Really guys? Why the hell do you think it's called Guilty Crown. So most of the characters became too unlikeable for you? It's called character development. All that shit that has happened up to episode 19 is very relevant to the title that they gave the anime. I'm not expecting a very happy ending, but the people who made this anime are definitely pulling it off well. Not all anime is the same, if it were that would be so goddamn boring. This is actually something DIFFERENT for once. If you're looking for a happy ending with likeable characters, go watch K-On or some Toradora you fucking wimps.

Wimpy Hero gets insanely hot chick to love him instantly by doing nothing and is loved by everyone.

YEAH THAT'S SO FUCKING DIFFERENT AND ORIGINAL.

The only difference here is the Shu never recovers from all the shit that's thrown at him.

Also, character development is not meant to turn the entire cast into idiots (Souta), sluts (Arisa), assholes (Yahiro) and maniacs (Daryl, though he was that way from the start). You really need to look up the damn definition. Characters are supposed to grow from development, not REGRESS like these people did. If all of the characters lose their likablity, there's no one to root for, and therefore, no reason to care what happens to them. Which is pretty much what happened here.

And I'm sure the writers felt the same because the obviously didn't care what happened to any of the characters in the finale. More than half of their fates are up in the air, including the fate of their own government and the secret organization that controlled the entire plot. If that's good storytelling, then Twilight is today's Citizen Kane.

Oh my lol. This couldn't not be the biggest disappointment in recent anime. At this point (Episode 17 has just aired), I just want the bad guys to nuke Tokyo and be done with it. The characters are too unlikeable to take seriously anymore.

LOL Lamest prediction ever The first episode is VERY UNPROMISING The most expected anime is Fate Zero by far, and so far it is steamrolling the other animes

Just watched the first episode, seems like code geass and death note had an evil little brain child.

OMG Looks so cool can't wait. Thank you for posting this.

This is a must watch :) No doubt about that.
