Rei is near a mental breakdown as she had witnessed her boyfriend’s head getting smashed by the baseball bat of the one she once loved. Out of despair she starts insulting Takashi that his reason for killing Hisashi was not her safety but rather his hatred because Hisashi dated her. If you haven’t hated Rei up till now you definitely do it now. Good for her that I’m not Takashi for I would have smashed her head even before Hisashi’s. But not Takashi – he is the hero of course and he does love her (for whatever reason that is).
Takashi does not answer. Instead he goes to the improvised barrier. When Rei asks him what he thinks he’s doing, he calmly responds that he does not want to bother her, so instead he wants to go downstairs and smash some more zombies. At first she doesn’t believe him or she does not want to believe it. When he’s one step ahead his certain death she calls out for him and begs him to stay with her. Do I have to tell you that Takashi looks awesome that whole time? He reminded me of Sōsuke Sagara (Full Metal Panic!) when he hugs Rei quietly. Something I wanted to see in FMP! so badly. Takashi finally sums up what has happened in the first episode:
On the day everything came to an end… I… killed my best friend… and held the girl that I loved for the first time.
Seriously, I might have made some jokes but I really, really like the first episode. But there are just some things that bugged me. Why do all the female protagonists have huuuuuge breasts?! They don’t even need a weapon because one hit with those monster boobs are enough to kill a zombie in the blink of an eye! Also I’m not that big fan of fan service in survival horror movies. I mean, seriously, how can the sight of some girls panty be cool, let alone erotic, while the blood is gushing out of wounds?! I really don’t get it. Maybe I’m not sick enough to enjoy Rei’s cellulite. This girl is something too. I do not know if I should hate her or rather like her. I’ve seen episodes 1-6 so far but in the first episode she is so dumb – it’s not even funny!
Oh, there are some more things to think or complain about but I’ve reached a critical word count and I think I’ll discuss this another time. So that was the review of the first Gakuen Mokushiroku episode! There hasn’t happened much (if you ignore some stupid bugs and Rei), still it left a very good impression on me. Give it a try!

I AGREE! REI IS A DUMB B*TCH >:O I really enjoy this anime. I take it for face-value.. nothing else but guilty pleasure. I think it's freakin HILARIOUS hahaha

LikeI've seen the entire anime. But I'm not gonna spoil anything. All I can tell you is that the series lead to a continuation (If that counts as a spoiler, I apologies). Anyway yeah, the boobs & ass is just too much for this series in general. If they were gonna go that far, they may as well turned this into a Hentai Anime (or at the very least, make it seem like we're watching Najica: Blits Tactics. Which they probably already did). Then there's Shido. Anyone remember the bad guy from "Now and Then, Here and There"? I got so angry that I wanted to kill him. I felt the same way after seeing Shido. (Shido is the guy in the Black Stripe Tux). That being said. I must express my anger towards Rei Miyamoto. In all my years watching anime (including Hentai), I've never see such jack-assary in my life! She promises Takashi that she will marry him. Then out of something so pointless, she leaves him for Hisashi (his friend). Then the Zombies come in. Takashi and company made it to the rooftop (Hisashi gets bitten along the way). Hisashi is turning into one of "them" and begs Takashi to do him in which Rei objects. Takashi did what Hisashi said and killed him (after turning into a zombie) and REI ACCUSES HIM OF JEALOUSY?!! I wanted to jump into that screen, chop Rei's head off, and shove it up that big ass of hers! *takes deep breath* Wow. That felt good. Correct me if I'm wrong but it seems that everyone throughout the entire fanbase wants Takashi to end up with Saeko (Can't blame Takashi if that happened).

LikeGlad that you keep yourself calm down and choose not to do it with Rei. I did have a similar feeling and not like the character at all (despite I am a big fan of her CV). And happily we have already seen Takashi and Saeko being together (even it lasted for a while). Hope there will be a second season or I will have to continue with the Manga.

LikeWell, you might not have to wait TOO long. See, there's already Volume 3 of the manga coming out either this month or next month WITH the High School of the Dead OVA included (It's a prequel). And the Anime covered Volume 1. So expect to see season 2 sometime this year.

LikeWell, judging by the way things are going, we might see Volume 3 of the manga sooner than Season 2 of the Anime. By the way I just noticed: In your first reply, you said you're glad that I chose not to do it with Rei. If you mean by "Getting off on her" (Sex wise), you can relax dude. She's not my type (and she never will be). I'm saving myself for Shizuka! ;)

I never thought I would rate down an anime because of an overuse of breats. o.O A shame that they'd turn me off if I had to date one of the characters. Hm, maybe I could make an exception for Saeko though ... *g* That is true to some extent. But I think it wasn't really the artwork that turned me off, after rereading chapter 1 but Rei's stupidity. Is there a cure for it? I hope there is. : / Yupp, she really is. Laughed when she told Takashi that she had to pee. After Alice there's only Asami I'm waiting for.

LikeWell, the anime rating is average, too much boob-fest as everyone says -_- Rei looks like b*tch in episode 1, but she's really a kickass pair for Takashi, I think. I personally like Saya, even she's so arrogant in episode 2-3 There's some from manga that not showed in anime yet, so don't read the manga if you don't want to be spoiled! @Antheon : Yes, I agree ^^ Episode 07 is damn great!

Damn, it looks like half of her body is boobs ... About Rei being a b*tch in the first episode: agreed. There's not much to say about that. Though I think in manga chapter 1 she's been portrayed worse. I'm not a big fan of Saya though. Every time she talks she seems annoyed. Couldn't life with such a girl. I started with the manga but I have some problems with the artwork. Maybe it's just chapter 1 but somehow it turned me off. : / Alice FTW! = )

Likethe boobs come in handy later (recoil control) LOL awesome anime, i think the fan service is awesome haha u rarely see zombies get so owned and people eaten alive in anime so this is definitely special in that way. later on u'll meet Saeko... (drool*) and then u'll start to like all the fan service :P the gun geek is also epic as I'm also sort of a gun geek, seeing him kick so much ass feels good lol one question that came up after watching this anime - the zombies react to sound, so wtf is with all the crying and screaming at each other when they're trying to run away?!?!?! u'll see what I mean

LikeIn my opinion it isn’t the zombie’s physical strength that makes them dangerous as they are made dumb and blind but their number. And the big weakness of the protagonists is that they need each other in order to survive. If anyone snaps or dies they are so screwed. They need Kōta for long-range attacks and rear cover, Saeko for her close combat strength, Saya is their strategist and Rei is a good fighter too. Takashi is holding this group together because he is their center. He can talk with everyone and everyone in the group likes him. Even Shizuka, the nurse, has a purpose as she’s the only adult and apart from her medical knowledge she seems to be pretty empathetic too. I like Saeko very much but I wonder if she enjoys slaying all those zombies. As she is the only one who has not shown any weakness I think it’s due to her composure. But what if this isn’t a self-control but rather a self-restraint? I wonder when she gets a real Katana, will be kickass to see her with one. That’s not the only thing that bugs me but the one with the least concern. Would you like the show if everyone would wisper all the time? They are all stressed and desperated, so they give a damn shit about screaming. It’s for the audience to empathize with them. Watching episode 07 now. Was dying to see it. : )

Like*looks at related posts* ^^; Anyway, I dislike Rei a lot too, also the series is too much of a boob-fest. Bewbs and gore do not mix and never will. It doesn't make a series better either. Also HSOTD is the first zombie anime I've ever seen and except for the boob-fest I like it a lot. I've been talking to other anime fans, also ones that already have read the manga and they're saying the anime is going to end disastrous.. I wonder..

As if they want to say 'Please, eat me!' and even then I wouldn't do so. Even I'd get one of "them" What's up with this term to begin with? Is everyone afraid to say it after watching Zombieland? Do not dare saying the z-word or you'll die? I got spoilered myself while researching the manga. So I stopped to be still able to enjoy the following episodes. But I'm curious how everything turns out. Either the story will have a gigantic plot twist or the characters get mentally tortured to no end until one's dooming the others by doing something stupid. What I know is, that neither of them must die as they're a perfect team with skilled specialists. Kōta for an example. He is the only one with long-range combat skills. Or Saeko with her sword skills. Somehow I have the feeling that it's going to be Takashi who snaps. To be the leader of this group will surely get him in trouble ...
