Manga Recommendation’s 1: Toriko

Picking a good manga is like walking through a luscious garden with a wide selection of Flowers and fruits of every colour and flavor, your spoilt for choice and don’t now whats good and whats poisonous so I am here to help you pick the good stuff. Like movies, there are lots of different Genres in Manga Such as Shoujo and Shounen which give you a good idea of what to expect such as you know a shounen will be a Manga focused on a strong main character fighting a strong evil villain and a Shoujo will always be about a young girl falling in love of course this doesn’t decide everything about a manga it just gives you a rough outline of what kind of series to expect. So with that in mind I am going to introduce you to many good series over the coming weeks so eventually there will be a Manga for you out there that I mention and hopefully you come to enjoy as much as I do to start off with I recommend to you a manga most people will find something to love about, Toriko.

In a world where the taste and texture of food is extremely important, there exist individuals known as Gourmet Hunters (美食屋 Bishokuya)who specialize in the acquisition of rare ingredients and animals. Toriko is one of these hunters and it is his dream to find the most precious foods in the world and create the ultimate dinner course. As one of the most skilled hunters in the world, he is regularly hired by restaurants and the rich to seek out new ingredients and rare animals. A man with inhuman ability, he utilizes his incredible strength and knowledge of the animal kingdom to capture ferocious, evasive, and rare beasts to further his ultimate goal. He is accompanied by a weak and timid chef named Komatsu who, inspired by Toriko’s ambition, travels with him to improve his culinary skills and to find rare ingredients. An organization that seeks to take control of the world’s entire food supply increases the struggle.

My Thoughts

Published in Weekly Shounen Jump,Toriko is everything a Shounen Manga should be, amazing artwork, excellent characters and a fun atmosphere. Written by Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi who isn’t really know for working on anything apart from Toriko, does an amazing job here as his art direction is equal parts awesome and terrifying as the monster fights are always very well animated in the panels and the story with its fantasy setting mixed with real world factors are always interesting and unique, with the diverse set of interesting characters this manga really invites you into a very amazing world with which will have you hooked and hungry all the time if you are a fan of food, fighting and amazing characters this is defiantly a manga for you.
