Anime ChannelAugust 7, 2010Midsummer season impression ’104by Snow 550 days ago I haven’t been following a lot of series this season, not because I don’t have the time for it but I’m putting it to better use.. *cough*playing Starcraft II*cough*. Here’s my thoughts and list of series I’ve been watching or have dropped and why:Shiki In my opinion, the very best show of this season. I didn’t think I would like it because it has vampires and stuff in it.. If you haven’t seen the movie “Vampire Sucks“, don’t even think about watching it. I thought it would be a funny seeing a vampire spoof.. well.. no.. it SUCKS Continuing with this show, Shiki isn’t your romance vampire series like Twilight(fail) or vampire knight but a thrilling horror oriented psychological one, so no epic fight scenes and no chidori/resengan here and there. Somehow the series knew to captivate me with the very first episode and now we’re five episodes further and it is still amazing. Know what to expect though, it starts out quite slowly but at least it gives time to develop the story which is a huge plus. I think if you love series as Bakemonogatari, you’d like or even love this show too. Hate vampires? Well think again after you watch Shiki, Edward is a nooby wimp compared to Natsuno.Agamami SS The first arc with the cutest girl, Morishima!!!, has finished already and the second arc, Kaoru “Sexhair!” Tanamachi, already has two episodes. I found the first arc pretty cute to be honest but this series is quite plotless and it’s not very coherent. It’s like being dropping in the middle of a eroge game, it IS an adaption from an eroge nevertheless. The main character, Tachibana, has such weird fetishes.. with each heroin a new one . Only reason I’m watching it is because of the cute characters and well.. it’s the only romance series of this season =( need to get my dose from somewhere =p. Looking forward to see how this arc end and which heroin is next. Only two left which catch my eye, the class rep and Maya from the swimteam. I wonder if there will be an OVA of Miya (bro-con lol)Ookami-san Started out weird and continued to stay weird. It júst got interesting with episode 5 however, I’m still planing to watch this. I want to see the relationship between Ryouko and Ryoushi work out ^^”. Had too high of an expectation for this one, which sucks because this series isn’t thát bad but still..Occult Academy Moderately interesting show, the crazy stuff happening in the series is fairly enjoyable and Yoko Hikasa, voice actor for Mio in K-ON!, is voicing the main character. The story itself isn’t really striking and it seems that the things that are happening are just random.High school of the dead Thé oversubbed show of this season, if gg is doing it you know it’s oversubbed. It’s a pretty good show, never watched an anime with zombies before. Fun to watch but not worth hyperventilating for =p. No explanations to why the zombie plague broke out yet but I’m sure it will come with the upcoming episodes. This show did get me to think about what I would do during a zombie apocalypse, what weapons I’d get, where to find food and shelter, transportation and procreation when all the zombies are “dead” .. just kidding about that last point.Seitokai YakuindomoYes.. that is what you think it is. Pedobear practising bondage!Kiss x Sis mixed with Seitokai no Ichizon, the jokes are .. not thát funny nor is this show entertaining. Very very mature tinted, so keep that in mind when you start watching this =/.Mitsudomoe Dropped, episode 1 was entertaining than the jokes just went too far.. bra this, bra that… pantsu this pantsu that.. I’m not a loli fan ^^”Shukufuku no campanella Never watched episode 2, the first one threw me off already. If anyone is watching this and genuinely finds this show to be good, leave a comment and state why, might pick it up again.Asobi ni iku yo More oppai, and less story.. pointless to watch this one unless 2D is your thing.That comes down to the following shows that I’m currently watching:ShikiAmagami SSOccult AcademyHighschool of the deadOokami-san
ShaneAugust 7, 2010 I’ve watched a few ‘monster’ type Anime and I never really got into any of them, well except Hellsing. What sort of show is Shukufuku no campanella? I might watch the first episode just to see what it’s like. I’m currently watching Agamami SS and will watch Ookami-san when I get some time.Reply
YuiAugust 7, 2010 Shukufuku no campanella is rather like an RPG show, but it ain’t that bad. If you had play the eroge, i’m sure the anime won’t disappoint you. Though it isn’t one of the few shows i anticipate to watch every week. But still ‘watch-able’.Reply
Mr ObviousAugust 8, 2010 skukufuku is just …. so… bad it’s like one of those shows that after you’ve watched it, u feel like as if your IQ dropped a few points i watched the first 2 episode and i dropped it, it made me feel too stupid.I’m currently watching Amagami SS (fun to watch), Ookami-san (fun n awesome), Legend of L H (fun n interesting), High School of the Dead (badass n sexy), Asobi ni Iku yo (…Nice…), Sekirei Pure Engagement (same reason as last), Occult G (interesting idea, average story), Nurarihyon (something really makes you wanna keep watching). Seitokai is… really random and not all the jokes are funny leading to awkwardness… good for wasting some time if you’re free i guess. i watched the first episode of Shiki which was alright, a bit slow… the next episode lagged on me and then after that i just couldn’t be bothered continuingIMO, Ookami-san’s best series out of these, 1st place, the characters are all fun and engaging and it guarantees my satisfaction after every episode. i would put HighSchool OTD as first place but i’ve read some of its manga before hence the tension’s lost a bit, 2nd place = Amagami SS’s also good but i don’t really like the 2nd arc, 1st arc was really good and interesting. 3rd place = Asobi ni Iku yo, hahaha, it’s damn funny and super eye candy, why the f not?so here’s my comment done.Reply
SnowAugust 9, 2010 Definitely agree on Shukufuku xD.I’m watching less shows than you are watching but it seems the ones you like I also like and vice-versa. Shiki definitely is very slow paced,but for series like that you have to sit out the first few episodes before the story catches on and the addiction begins.I wonder if you’ve watched To-love-ru? It’s gives the same vibes as Asobi, also an alien coming to earth and gets to close to a human etc.. same with Birdy the mighty decode. Did watch those two series though, so maybe when I’m really bored out of my brain I shall pick up Asobi once again just to add to my collection.
