Princess Lover! Another Epic Fall?3

April is coming, ready for the flood of the new anime? Well, at least I’m not, thus I’d like to bring something that’s not as a part of the April Anime wave. Latest news from Akiba Blog announced a new TV Anime adaptation of Ricotta’s Princess Lover!. Princess Lover! is an 18+ adventure game (yes, a galgame) produced by Ricotta, illustrated by Kei Komori (こもりけい, Circle name: けもこも屋) who’s well known for his exceptional artworks.

Anime News Network also announce the release of the news and the line of the story. Haven’t played the game before but attracted by the following story.

In the original game’s story, Teppei Arima is a second-year high school student who lost both of his parents in a traffic accident on their way home from a family trip. His grandfather, Isshin Arima, happens to wield the puppet strings in Japan’s vast economy and demands that Teppei becomes his successor as the head of the Arima Group. To prepare for his debut into high society, Teppei enrolls in an elite academy for the scions of the rich and powerful. (via Anime News Network)

The story obviously belongs to the conventional pattern of galgames but yet attractive and acceptable in the first place. Later when I noticed the character design, I was totally disappointed. I’d like to show you the huge difference.

The above pic is from the original game, illustrated by Kei Komori (seems little bit similar to Hiro Suzuhira’s drawing style), well, you will get to know the gap between the Anime and the game. This remind me of the January Anime Akikan! which falls the way that is identical to Princess Lover! (and both title ended with a excalmatory mark). Check out my previous post for Akikan! and see how it falls, or how I expected it in the illusion of Hiro Suzuhira. But to me, from some screenshots of the Anime that we can see, Princess Lover! seems much better than Akikan!.

Well, may be I’ve just made some rough decision and the Anime may turned out to be better than I have thought. The Anime may on air this year but the data hasn’t released yet. Sorry if I break your illusion for the Anime and I’d like to make up by presenting a nice scan of the original game by Kei Komori, and hoping what I said before is wrong.
