Recommended Anime of January 2014

Here we go with the late recommended series of the season. With plenty of interesting series this season, it is time for us to manage the time properly. Was able to cut the list much shorter than my expectation and overall, this is a great season and for sure we are more looking forward to this Spring when we are going to have the second season of Date a Live. Ok, let’s make this short and jump to the list below.

Recommended Anime of January 2014

Seitokai Yakuindomo* / 生徒会役員共* (EP12)

Second season of the series and probably one of the most expected of the season. You can constantly grow your knowledge base of those little heartwarming jokes but just don’t spoil them in the office.

Witchcraft Works / ウィッチクラフトワークス

It appeared to be a general Harem series to me in the first place and it is indeed a Harem series with only one male character. It might seem to be a bit cliche but the setting is interesting, as well as the episodes so far.

Noragami / ノラガミ

Our female protagonist is cute and there are really few reasons not to follow. Voice casts are exciting in the series and battles are, well, short but condensed. Interesting story and beautiful female protagonsit make you cannot reject.

Buddy Complex / バディ・コンプレックス

Female protagonist left our poor male protagonist in the future and vanished, without lawysuit. Our Marty McFly had to live a life in the future where he didn’t even have a valid ID. Without being foced to meet the officer from the Immigration office, Marty landed in the cockpit of a robot and met his nice couple, a male in this case. This basically tells you the first episode of the series. It’s Sunrise and it’s so far an interesting series to follow.

Saki Zenkoku-hen / 咲-Saki- 全国編 (EP13)

We just finished Achiga-hen of the series and now we are able to watch the sequel of the original series. The view from Saki’s own perspective is quite different if you have watched Achiga-hen, and it is of huge fun. After three episodes of catching up, the story finally started.

D-Fragments / ディーふらぐ!

Have to say I have no good feeling towards the members of this club, even at this point after several episodes. Each one outside this club seems to be a nicer person but we still have to say this series is, well, somehow interesting yet pointless.

Chuunibyo demo Koi ga Shitai! Ren / 中二病でも恋がしたい!戀

Second season of the series which to me seems a bit redundent. The first season ends well and I wasn’t expecting something more. But here it comes, with a subtitle Ren (Love). Ren probably refers to the relationship between Yuuta and Rikka, or even among the later comer Shichimiya officially. But to me, Ren somehow means the Yuri relationship between Nibutani and Dekomori (it could be).

Recommended Anime of January 2014

Mikakunin de Shinkoukei / 未確認で進行形

This is probably my favorite series of the season. The animation is well done and story is though a bit cliche yet still interesting enough to keep us follow. The three main female characters are the key attraction to the series. Definitely recommended.

Recommended Anime of January 2014

Nourin / のうりん (EP12)

Links: Official Website, Preview | On Air: January 10, 2014

Though similar to Gin no Saji where two series share the same Agriculture School topic, they are completely different. Nourin so far has very few things to do with agriculture but instead focus on all the jokes and fan services.

Wake Up, Girls!

Not liking the series at all but due to everybody is talking about it, so, it might be better that we mention the series here. To be fair, I should start with that I am not interested in most idol series except Love Live! which kept me watching because of several characters. Started with Panchira didn’t do you any good thus the second episode tried to “explain” the explicit show. Some fans thought the series stands out by being quite close to the real world, while some other “exports” denied. It is still an Anime and the fact is it was not receive well on NicoNico (only an average around 25% and even 15% viewers liked the show). Guess we just had too much expectation on it.

Nisekoi / ニセコイ

Probably the most well known series of the season with SHAFT and our director. This is a fairly traditional series and a love triangle among our three protagonists.

Sekai Seifuku: Bouryaku no Zvezda / 世界征服~謀略のズヴィズダー~

The original Anime series actually turns out to be just fine. It combines all the popular factors into the story which follows our Loli female protagonist conquering the world in a way that is, well, by using all kinds of robots and monsters, and of course, the Loli power. Each episode so far was interesting and delightful and you may want to keep an eye on this.
