It is time to talk about the new series this Spring, wonder how you like it so far. It is actually a season full of surprises, and I have to say that I like most of them. Apart from several well known sereis like Oreimo and Railgun, there are some really good light novel adaptations like RDG: Red Data Girl by P.A. Works and Hataraku Maousama!. Also we have some surprises from few less known original series which turns out to be one of the best of the season, the Kakumeiki Valvrave. If you haven’t started, check out our new Anime guide for the list of new TV Anime airing this Spring.
RDG: Red Data Girl (12 eps)
P.A. Works is the synonym for must watch to me, and the same applies for RDG. Guess we don’t need to mention about the quality since it is top notch of the season. The story starts a bit slow in the first episode, and a small climax in the following episode. It turned out to be too good that I simply cannot stop and checked out the Nico Nico version. Of course, it is one of my favorite of the season.
(12+1 eps)
Had a hard time to find a proper reason to follow the series but few can be found are nice animation and graphics, other than those, it is just a Harem series with loads of cute girls and a cliche story. However, the cute girls seem outweighed the story and give us some incentives to continue.
Links: Official Website | On Air: April 4, 2013
This series is generally for female fans and somehow a reverse Harem seems much better than a traditional one, at least our female protagonist is way more powerful in terms of attracting male protagonists. As for the story, it is still bit cliche but still worth checking out.
Hataraku Maousama! (13 eps)
One of the most interesting series of the season though the animation and graphics is a bit disappointed.
Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru. (12 eps)
Quite interested in the series before the airing but now, a bit disappointed, due to the terrible quality of the graphics and guess they spent too much on marketing. The TV Anime simply cannot compare with Haganai.
Devil Survivor 2 The Animation (13 eps)
One of the surprises of the season. The story turns out to be quite good right from the beginning, in a pattern quite similar to Persona series. The series actual reminds me of EVA, and guess lots of you might feel the same.
(16 eps)
The series is going to end in this season, as well as the light novel. Regardless who you like best in the series, it is one that we had been expected for a while.
(26 eps)
Links: Official Website | On Air: April 6, 2013
Fans seem to love the series, both in Japan and oversea. It is a series of great quality, especially the impact of the Kyojin. However, it is bloodily, and you may not want to follow it if you hate blood. To me, the Kyojin seems too disgusting and prevents me from watching more.
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet / 翠星のガルガンティア (? eps)
This original series attracted tons of attention on Nico Nico, with a extremely high score from fans. The story started to be interesting from the second episode, and somehow reminds me of Waterworld, the movie.
Haiyore! W (? eps)
For fans who followed the first season, you may also want to check this out. The story is still, interesting though nonsense. The graphics are much better than the first season, and might worth a position in your watch list if you like casual series.
(24+ eps)
Links: Official Website | On Air: April 8, 2013
One of the traditional series featuring Samurai, as well as cute girls and some fan services. Nothing from the series really stands out from the crowd but when started to watch it, I started to like it.
Hayate no Gotoku! Cuties (12 eps)
Another cour of the series while the story was originally written by the Manga author and has nothing to do with previous season. It has a random story features different female protagonists in each episode.
(12 eps)
Links: Official Website | On Air: April 11, 2013
When you first listened to the OP, you would know that you should follow it. Then take a look at the casting list, well, you might just know every one of them. The first two episodes turned out to be extremely good, though it surely looks similar to GUNDAM SEED where they hijacked GUNDAMS. There will be around 24 episodes of the series, and the second cour will be aired in this Fall, starting from October 2013.
S (24 eps)
Long waited second season, and it is still good. The story focuses on The Sisters Arc and will introduce lots of new characters. Probably already in your watch list.
(12 eps)
The story turned out to be quite interesting, and Yui’s voice made me stick to the series right from the beginning.
