Rumor: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica 2nd Season Coming?11

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (魔法少女まどか☆マギカ) is one of the hottest TV Anime series this year. Despite the fact that the series was suspended for a while due to the Earthquake early this year, it did not seem to affect the popularity of Madoka after the resume. Fans simply like it and when it ended in April, they want even more. Recently, in the staff commentary of the 6th volume of the Bul-ray of TV Anime Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, Gen Urobuchi (虚淵 玄), the senario writer put it that he is working on the next season of the series. MyAnimeList has the commentary translated as below.

Rumor: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica 2nd Season Coming?

Urobuchi: It’s been quite short since I began to work in the anime industry, but I was fortunate that the producers of Madoka let me do in my own way. In order to show my gratitude to the staff, I’m struggling to work out ideas of the next “thing”. I think I can announce it someday.
Yuki Aoi: Second season? Second season?
Urobuchi: I’m twisting my brain now.
Yuki Aoi: There could be a parallel world or a different ending?
Urobuchi: Possible. We won’t let Madoka go.

So, pretty affirmative that there will be a second season. Stay tuned and we will bring more updates.

    the Manga of Madoka has also 3 season (and i don’t mean the volumes i mean really seasons) when you want to see it like that
    so a second season was NEVER impossible

I just hope the fans won’t demand a second season from the producers who already wrapped up the story and were planning to focus on something else…but HAD to make a second season due to the fans…and then the fans bash it up because it doesn’t live up to their expectations or so on.^^”

    He was probably talking about the third movie; it is a direct sequel to the series (and the two first movies, as they’re a recap of the series)
