According to the latest issue of Bessatsu Shonen Magazine (別冊少年マガジン), Manga series Sankarea (さんかれあ) was green-lit for TV Anime. Sankarea is originally a Manga series by Mitsuru Hattori (はっとり みつる) who launched the series back in late 2009. For folks who do not familiar with the author, let’s remind you by mentioning the super healthy Anime series Kenkou Zenrakei Suieibu Umishou (ケンコー全裸系水泳部 ウミショー, Healthy Nude Swimming Club).
The Plot: This is the story of Furuya, a 15-year-old boy who is obsessed with zombies. From videos to manga, trinkets to video games, he will stop at nothing in his quest for anything zombie related. However, his interests turns from a simple hobby into an obsession when his cat dies in an accident. Using an old manuscript, Furuya embarks on a quest to revive his fallen pet. During his quest however, he is discovered by the idol Rea, a popular and elegant lady from a wealthy family. Though it may appear that her life is perfect, everything is not as it seems. And she turns to Furuya, for a chance to live her life, in this life or the next. (via ANN)
Even though our female protagonist becomes a Zombie, we still have no reason not to believe the series would become a Moe one. It is a really interesting series and received lots of attentions. Since the Manga has only a total of four volumes, we would expect that the plot and the ending will be rewritten by the Anime director and producers, and which will more or less increase the possibility of a second season. Well, let’s just enjoy the first season and let go of the worry.
When we mention Zombie, the related Anime series may pop up into your mind, like Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?. We have confirmed the second season of the series a while ago but the specific airing date has not yet announced. Stay tuned and we will bring you the latest updates.
