Well these mediocre scores are mostly because most of the jokes don’t come natural to us. I don’t think it’s really fair to judge something we know almost nothing about. The review wasn’t lacking in any content, but this series should have been judged by someone who visualizes the jokes in a normal Japanese perspective. Anyway thanks for the review!!
I acknowledge that Japanese look at those jokes differently as I’m part Asian myself (though not Japanese) thus knowing the perspective gap between Americans/Europeans and Asians. But that’s not the reason for the rating. I could compare the anime as what it is: with other comedy series. Thus the rating would be higher I guess. But that’s not the way I do my reviews. I look at them, analyze them and compare them to all other anime I’ve watched so far. And altough I really like the jokes and the visual style a lot, the series lacks in many other ways. I can’t ignore this fact and I’ll take it in consideration. There’s so much potential that hasn’t been touched yet. But if the second half proofs me wrong, I’ll gladly change my rating. : )
Anyways, thank you very much for your comment! It is much appreciated.
This seems like something I might be interested but it doesn’t seem to have that ‘appeal’ factor. Might watch the first episode to better guage what the series might be like.
SYD is a hit or miss: Either you like the jokes or not. As this series purely relies on it, there isn’t any other reason to watch it if you don’t. But as Simonsayzhigh said, it’s something that comes along with the Japanese culture and sexuality’s position within it. It’s like “Welcome to the NHK” – you won’t go into it much if you don’t take the Japanese society into consideration. But unlike “Welcome to the NHK”, which in fact is quite sad too because in reality there are many Japanese isolating themselves from society, “Seitokai Yakuindomo” does not have this variety of jokes. So if the first episode leaves you with a question mark on your head, maybe you should consider not watching it anymore as I doubt it will change much.
The ending is weird nonetheless.
@Shane: The first episode is all you need as there’s no plot progression (I wouldn’t even call it plot) at all until now.
Thank you both very much for your comment! It is much appreciated.

I like it, I think its fun and corky, its ment to be light hearted and not serious, so dont expect major arc in character development or anything, maybe, possible, but again it is for humor and enjoying the slice of life comedy.
I’m not expecting a great plot but *something* nonetheless. The little things that are shown in the latest episodes (Shino sleeping at Takatoshis side, Mutsumi touching Takatoshis hand or Shino flushing after Takatoshi asks her what was written on the paper). Those little scenes are exactly what I wanted to happen from the very beginning. It’s okay that SYD is funny but I would be upset if all we get in the end would be Tsuda-kun still single and Shino making some perverted joke. : /
Finally it’s up =D
Great first post on TheAkiba ^_^v
I really like the post itself even though I dislike the anime xD.
Keep it up =3
Yes, it is. I waited for YoU’s “good to go”. ; )
Thank you! I think it’s understandable that you do not like the anime. *g*
Nice work Ant! It’s really a handsome review and guess I will give 7/10 to the series.
This series seems alright, might come back to it when I’ve finished watching one of the anime’s I’m currently watching.

this anime is on my ‘watch-when-waiting-for-all-the-other-animes-to-come-out’ list
due to no overall story, I can’t even remember what happened the last episode, actually… I can’t remember what happened in any episodes…
the sex jokes are mostly just…. not even funny or sexy…. I can’t even imagine why some sites place this under ‘mature’
meh, good for kiling some time, up to you.
Oh. lol @ the ending, probably the best part imo XD since it has nothing to do with the anime
