Survey: How Can We Make TheAkiba More Useful to You?11

The last time that I handed out the survey was two and a half years ago. Quite a long time and as I was expanding the site, I would like to say, that I am ready for another survey. I have been considering implementing several features to the site, some of them you may probably saw, including Akiba Newsletter and Akiba Network. Also, I have another idea in mind that is to add the social networking features to TheAkiba. And before I trying out all these, I would like to hear some voices from our readers.

The survey contains 10 simply questions. Ready? Take our survey now.

TheAkiba Survey

For friends who do not want to take the survey but do want to say something, you can leave comments below. For a simple start point, you can talk about our posts topics, what do you want us to cover? We basically have one or two posts everyday, how do you like this frequency? How do you like our design, any complains about the navigation? What features do you want us to add for a better experience? What frustrates you the most  of TheAkiba and what is the best of it? Say anything and I would love to hear.

Even though I may not able to reply to everyone, I will definitely read anything you have to say. Have spent quite an amount of time on TheAkiba, sometimes it might be a bit difficult to hear negative comments or criticism, but that’s how we grow up. So it’s over to you. Feel free to leave your feedback in comments below.

Hello there, i'd like a place where i can see the launches for X season. It's not hard, and it's very useful. Example. I wanna ses this fall launches, i go to that pages, and then click on year and select the season (Fall in this case). Another option and simple one is just a list ordered (descending) by season. and click and go directly to the article. Well, in case something like this already exist, i apologize . But tell how can i do that x) Regards!

I used to have the list on the sidebar but removed. Guess I will need to make a new page for it and it also reminds me to optimize the navigation. Some readers told me that it gets difficult to find something sometimes. Thanks for your suggestion :)

I do not agree with ShinOtoko's comment in regard Animanga. I'm sorry for not agreeing, but I've just visited Animanga and currently at the moment, from what I see, the page design is not spectacular compared to TheAkiba, but could it possibly be the type of news that Animanga covers? Personally, coming from another website owner, the design is what catches the users 90% of the time, when it's your first visit. I've just taken a look at Animanga and I'm sorry, it won't do for me. I was instantly turned off by the design and super confused as where to navigate to find my appropriate categories I want to browse whereas my experience here, at TheAkiba, has been great when it comes to organization, design and just simply browsing. The news articles are written with a type of personality and an opinion of some type and that's what makes TheAkiba user interactive. I don't see why there should be any changes, but if there was one, TheAkiba newsletter pop-up has been becoming a bother for me. Overall, I recommend you keep it up and maybe I'll get the chance to work with the guy behind TheAkiba one day. That's just my two cents.

Errr.... Bro. Animanga is an abbreviation of Anime & Manga. As in Aniblog = Anime Blog. I'm truly sorry if I don't come as clear enough with it, but I'm pretty sure Animanga is a common way to shorten Anime & Manga in the community. So when I said "Animanga news sites", I meant to say "Anime & Manga news sites". As in, any other Sites on teh interwebz that are catering to Anime & Manga news. Like this one (TheAkiba), AnimeNewsNetwork, myanimelist News, and a bunch of other sites like that. I'm NOT, in any way, referring to one specific site. What's so funny about all this... is that this is actually the fist time I'm aware of the existence of a site named "Animanga". lol now I will never unseen it's ugliness. So yeah... I didn't really expect someone to reply to my post the way you did lol. Talk about uber-misunderstanding lol. Well I do get one of your point though: TheAkiba really hit the sweet spots on the website design. Props to YoU and his Team! BTW, YoU, I will really appreciate some feedbacks/replies from you about the Light Novel/Rainobe stuff :D

Wow, nice design you have done for your site, I really like it. To people like us who care about the look and feel of the site may get bored with those without a handy design, but it may not applied to everybody :) But a nice design always help. Looks like we have covered some similar topics on our sites, how long have you set up your site? PS. You can close the newsletter popup and it will only appear to you again if you clean your browser cookies.

I apologize for the late response, but like you said yes, to people who care about the look and feel of the site always seem to strive for a better design, even though it's great at its best. I've become to realize that website designing is almost endless as we just recently almost-finished our current design, but I feel as if its still "lacking" something to it, but maybe that's just in the eye of the designer him/herself. Yes, we cover similar topics, just almost, and our site started up during February 2011. I've been following this website for a while, ever since I discovered it through Google's search results. Absolutely love the clean and fantastic look. Maybe we should collaborate together sometime to create a design? But by doing that, I'd have a great feeling we'd just never feel content about our current one we have, don't you feel that sometimes?

Agree, website design is endless, especially when the visitor and the designer have different views: one want to get the information in the first glance, the other want to make it look better. It's a dilemma. Did feel not satisfied from time to time :) Guess that's what we all feel as a blogger.

I'm sorry to say this, but as you might already know, Animanga news site is dime a dozen in the english community these days... even more so with anime episodic reviews :P. I have a suggestion, as to how you could stand from the crowd. Covers about the Light Novels Industry more. Especially the one in Japan. Seriously, if you do it right, you might become the-go-to-place for our LN news. I think the future of LN is becoming more and more interesting, since the industry is still relatively young, compared to Animanga and what not. ...then again, maybe it's just me who's interested in these kind of stuff :P

Good idea ShinOtoko !But just how many light novels get translated ?That might be a problem since it could reduce interest towards that kind of coverage .Though I think its worth a try ..

Thanks for the support. Yeah... unfortunately, of course there's gonna be "that" problem *cough*languagebarrier*cough* in this kind of medium. Though, to be fair, this very medium (LN) is what motivates me the most to learn Nihongo lol :D. The way I see it, with the kind of coverage this medium got on the West, there's no way it will even come close to Anime & Manga :( Oh Well, Thank God for the existence of baka-tsuki then. those guys are awesome xD

I agree with your idea about the current amount of Anime websites but even in this case, I would like to stand out by providing more insights and thoughts into the industry. We also occasionally cover light novel series and as you say above, very few people actually read them and the translation works do not seem to be very up to date. But it clearly a nice idea and if you can find some talents in the light novel industry, I would be very interested to set up something for it. PS. I am also interested in some light novel.
