Have some spare time so just made a simple TheAkiba web app for Google Chrome. Nothing fancy but acts as a shortcut sitting on your “New Tab” screen and redirect you to TheAkiba. Other than that, you may find the loading speed to be a bit faster because of this web app enable Chrome to store and cache the necessary files of TheAkiba. As Chrome slowly and silently approaches iOS, probably it’s time to do something to do.

Guess lots of fans in China have noticed about the news for few days. Not very surprised to see the result as I myself felt depressed when I was using Google services back in China. One great morning you woke up as usual. Boiled a cup of coffee and sit in front of your laptop. Opened up Gmail trying to check out what’s new in your mailbox and found nothing but 404 error page. Gmail was blocked. Okay, fine, let’s get some video and found Youtube still outside the Great Wall. Where’s my documents? Google Docs was blocked and where to get my latest essay? It’s great to have a backup in your disk and even better to have a VPN software around.

Well, I haven’t realized that Google had released the Picasa 3 Beta until today. As a fans of this application, I download the software and test on my own laptop. You can see in the sreenshot above, the welcome screen is slightly different between the old one. When log in to the main screen of Picasa 3, it’s more or less the same as before despite the changes in the left sidebar.
