]]> Google Music was launched quite a while ago and still right now a close beta. Google gives you the capacity for 20,000 songs (not MB), and syncs to the cloud so all your music is synchronized across all devices, including cellphones, both online streaming and offline listening. It also provides you free tracks from time to time, and the speed is quite ideal even during high traffic time. You can use it to backup your music collections (with an app installed on your computer to automatically sync your music to the cloud), or listen to the them on the go. You can also check out some other cool features on the official website.

Not a long time ago, the invitation feature was online and we are now able to send invitations to our readers. We will giveaway 8 invitations. To opt in, just subscribe to our newsletter and leave a comment. We are using Google’s reCAPTCHA and Mailhide service to stop spammers so you are safe to leave your Email address even in the comment. ]]> Folks who tried to get access to Google+ (Plus) is a bit tough these day. We have received many comments and requests but due to the limited access, not all of them can get a registration. Yesterday, Google has just relaunched the official invitation and we are ready to giveaway to the folks. But this time, a little bit different.

Google engineers have request that we avoid mass invites, thus we would like to follow their instructions to avoid all the punishment that may put upon us. But still, we are giving away all these invitations and people who received can get a registration in most cases but Google is still throttling invites. Thus we cannot assure this even though they are ready to double their filed trial number.

To get an invitation, you may want to follow the steps below:

  1. Follow TheAkiba on Twitter or follow our Fan Page on Facebook
  2. Retweet this post or like this post if you are using Facebook using the social bookmark button above (or manually)
  3. Comment on this post and put the URL of the tweet/Facebook Like you posted, and use your “Google E-Mail” (your Google account Email address; but Google Apps is not accepted by Google, so don’t use it) as your Email address and we will send the invitation to your mailbox to avoid spam. (to find out the URL of the tweet or Facebook statue, click the time stamp)

That’s it. We are doing this to avoid too many requests and we will pick 10 of them to giveaway by using Random.

The Giveaway ends today at 11:59 PM EDT (UTC−4) since the demand to Google+ is insane that we cannot assure you when this invitation will be turned off again.

]]> Google has been very hot these days. If you are getting all the related news, you will know that Google+ (Google Plus) is one of them. Acting like a Facebook, Google is to build its own social networking platform and with this tool, all your information including your Google Readers, Calendars, Docs, Gmail and Photos will be aggregated into one single network. Still have no idea what it is, head to Mashable for the detailed review of the service.

If you have a friend who already enrolled in the field trial, you will probably be able to get the invitation a couple of days ago. However, the official invitation of Google+ was turned off after a few hours of “insane demand” thus we won’t be able to send you guys official invitations. But there are still ways to get into the platform. The detail method we used here can be found on FeakGeeks but all you need to do is simply put your Email in your comments and we will add you to a Circle in Google+. You will receive an Email (with certain content that I share with you, it won’t tell you it’s a invitation to Google+) and click the link Learn More About Google+ which will redirect you to the Google+. If you found yourself getting message like below (which most people do):

Right now, we’re testing with a small number of people, but it won’t be long before the Google+ project is ready for everyone. Leave us your email address and we’ll make sure you’re the first to know when we’re ready to invite more people.

you will need to come back to that page later. If it works for you, you will see the registration form. The process is simply but Google is limiting the access to the platform and that’s why you see the message above.

Guess lots of fans in China have noticed about the news for few days. Not very surprised to see the result as I myself felt depressed when I was using Google services back in China. One great morning you woke up as usual. Boiled a cup of coffee and sit in front of your laptop. Opened up Gmail trying to check out what’s new in your mailbox and found nothing but 404 error page. Gmail was blocked. Okay, fine, let’s get some video and found Youtube still outside the Great Wall. Where’s my documents? Google Docs was blocked and where to get my latest essay? It’s great to have a backup in your disk and even better to have a VPN software around.

Lots of people in China feel bad when Google announced that they will leave. It’s a great shock to China and the Internet. People in China without a VPN on their hand will feel that the technology back to 10 years ago and the rest Chinese company will be grateful and speed up their profits. It’s a war between government and people not in terms of weapon but will. And people fail and ended up with worse equipment. That’s it.

Google Wave finally goes into the preview version. Have noticed about this product for a while and eventually have a chance to taste it before official release. Wave offers great features and will sure become the next superstar on the web.

What is a wave?

A wave is equal parts conversation and document. People can communicate and work together with richly formatted text, photos, videos, maps, and more.

A wave is shared. Any participant can reply anywhere in the message, edit the content and add participants at any point in the process. Then playback lets anyone rewind the wave to see who said what and when.

A wave is live. With live transmission as you type, participants on a wave can have faster conversations, see edits and interact with extensions in real-time.

Well, I haven’t realized that Google had released the Picasa 3 Beta until today. As a fans of this application, I download the software and test on my own laptop. You can see in the sreenshot above, the welcome screen is slightly different between the old one. When log in to the main screen of Picasa 3, it’s more or less the same as before despite the changes in the left sidebar.

One thing that attract my attention is the Picasa Photo Viewer which cannot be found in preview versions. The viewer is alike the default windows photo viewer, but is sure much better than the one windows provides.You can find out the effect below when you click your photos in your computer. It’s gorgeous!
