href="http://theakiba.com/series/k-on/" title="K-ON!">K-ON! fans with three other titles performed by ASCII Research Institute. ASCII concluded that the series received well to the general public, especially young women who don’t watch Anime frequently. The research reveals that 37% of K-ON! fans are women while only 10% of the audience are female for Strike Witches 2. This is reasonable since Strike Witches 2 is basically a fan service series for Lolicon and male and there seems to be few reasons that female should watch it. To prove my thought, around 70% of fans of Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler, 黒執事) are female.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica are regular Anime fans. Well, to further illustrate the idea behind this, take myself as example, I did watch K-ON! but not the rest of the three titles. And at the same time the Mahou Shoujo Anime stays on my Hard Drive collecting dust.

Why do you watch K-ON? What’s the series special to you? Let us know!
Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

Kokoro Connect (ココロコネクト, lit. Heart Connect) is green-lit for Anime. One of the highlight is that the illustration of the novel has a extremely similar character design as K-ON! which took me a while to identify. If you take a look at the following promotion video without notice, you probably end up with a conclusion that K-ON! (けいおん) is going to have a love comedy series. That is because the illustrator (Horiguchi Yukiko, 堀口 悠紀子) of the light novel happened to be the same person as the character designer of Anime K-ON!. Similarly, the Anime of the series will be produced by Kyoto Animation, which more or less increase our confidence, even they produced something like Nichijou before. If you like the K-ON! cute style and like to see a short hair version of <a

At clubhouse room 401, there gathers “anything goes” members of the culture study society. Pro-wrestling otaku Taichi Yaegashi, mysterious beauty Iori Nagase, cool Himeko Inaba, the clown Yoshifumi Aoki and fancy-loving Yui Kiriyama found the noisy but calm days suddenly come to a halt. The personality switched among the members. The unnatural days of changinging into “someone” by getting back to “themselves” by becoming “someone else” has started! (Plot via <a

So far, still no idea in what type the Anime will be present. It could be either a TV Aime or a movie instead. Stay tuned, will bring more updates.

December 3rd in over 130 theaters in Japan. But for most fans outside of Japan, the BD/DVD release, in most cases, will be schedule around half-year after the premiere. In this post, we gather all the information to help fans learn what they want to know about movie.

The Story: London

If you still remember what happen in the last few episodes of the second season of the series, you would know that the girls were planning a graduate trip but haven’t decided where to go. In the movie, according to the introduction on the official website, the decision was made and all the five members go to London. So, we have a combination of several key words: girls, band, London, trip. What will come to your mind? Beatles! So, this is the suggestion by Mio and the girls draw lots and Mio wins.

However, as you can see in the movie poster, all the five girls are wearing winter clothes while they should have graduated around March. Well, March is still cold I think.

Music

When you mention K-ON!, you cannot fail to talk about the music. And this time too, according to Aki Toyosaki (豊崎愛生), the voice actress of Yui, the new songs are under process and the new CM which use the song will be released on September 3rd.

The Bad Thing: Riots in London & Disasters in Japan

London is not always a save place to go, at least not at this moment. If you put an eye on the news you will find how panic London citizens are now. Of course, we don’t think our female protagonists have anything to do with the riots but we just want our readers to know more about what’s happening around. Read more about the events <a

We have seen big disasters happened every year and in 2011, it was Japan that suffered the most. Let’s just pray for those souls that suffered.<br

Also the official website have streamed two PVs and you can check them out <a

We have spent several posts discuss about the topic and the possibility of a third season where the university life of the girls be the main plot is still big. Check out our <a

In the favorite female characters column (思い入れのある歴代女性キャラ) of the magazine, the editors picked up the top 30 female from all Anime that you can think of. Of course, the ranking was done by reader voting and with a huge number of sample (for those who want to use some statistics to make some sense), the result is pretty persuasive and pretty much reflect the current Anime trends and behaving as a good example to those directors who want to make the next “most welcomed” Anime series.

Is there anything called monopoly in the Anime industry? If there were one, you are now looking at an example. As you can see in the magazine scan below, K-ON! has won this battle and pretty much dominated the top five. With Yui Hirasawa (平沢 唯) as the top, Azusa Nakano (中野 梓) second, Ritsu Tainaka (田井中 律) as forth and Mio Akiyama (秋山 澪) as fifth. One exception is that Tsumugi Kotobuki (琴吹 紬) ranked at 30, the last in the ranking. Pretty surprised to see this but guess it was because of her thick eyebrows.

The one that kicked away K-ON!’s perfect victory is Kagura (神楽) from Anime Gintama (銀魂), ranking in the third place. We also see other interesting characters, like Rei Ayanami (綾波 レイ) from Neon Genesis Evangelion (新世紀エヴァンゲリオン) at 6th; Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒ) at 7th; Sheryl Nome (シェリル・ノーム) at 15th and C.C. at 21st.

<img

With Yui Hirasawa (平沢 唯) still ranking in the first place and Kagura (神楽) in the same third position. Check it out below.

<img

The four girls graduated from high school and were planning to go to the same college but there were also some left, Azusa and Ui. What it will be?

Before moving forward, let’s review some events happened before. We had an interesting discussion on whether there would be a third season of the series last year. If there were one, what would it be like? Still remember that we’ve made a lot of assumptions that there might be a story about the four girls went to the same college and start their new music life? Well, guess our guess had came true.

Half year later, we received the news that the Manga of K-ON! is back. And a few days ago, we had confirmed that the story of the new Manga of K-ON!. As we talked about before (and also in our college story assumption), there will be two separate lines of story. One will be the university story including all the four cutes girls Yui, Mio, Tsumugi and Ritsu and it will be published on Manga Time Kirara since April 9. We also had some unconfirmed news about the detail that the four girls will live in the same dorm and three more new characters will also be introduced. And for another line, the high school story line will be published on Manga Time Kirara Carat since April 28. No further news about this one.

Some of our guesses came true and so it’s time to make another assumption. I would expect a third season coming around Summer 2012. There will be a movie of the series coming December 3 2011 so there should not be any movements from the Tokyo Animation this year. Taking the magazine issue into consideration, one year would have enough content for Anime adaptation. Let’s just hope it would come true again <img
