Confirmed: K-ON! Manga to End Next Month

We mentioned the rumor yesterday, today, with the scan on the web, we have to confirm that the Manga of K-ON! will be ended in the next issue. As you can see in the scan below suggesting that fans should not miss the last chapter of the Manga. Meanwhile, we’ve talked about the third season of the TV Anime and we are expecting to see some kind of announcement coming in the next issue of the magazine too.

As you know, the Manga now has two separate storylines, one is about university and other about high school. The scan of the Manga is from the university storyline, and we so far do not know whether both storylines are going to end. Further information about whether the high school storyline will be ended too will be updated in this post. Bookmark it and check back to see if there are anything new.

Rumor: K-ON! Manga to End Next Issue

A rumor came to our attention regarding the original Manga of the popular series K-ON!. According to Twitter, the Manga of K-ON! will come to an end in the next issue. Regarding the reliability of the rumor? Very unlikely. At first, the Manga was serialized in Houbunsha’s (芳文社) seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara (まんがタイムきらら) between the May 2007 and October 2010 issues. Later on, the manga relaunched in April 2011 with two separate storylines published in Manga Time Kirara and Manga Time Kirara Carat (まんがタイムきららCarat). The new Manga have been around for only one year with two storylines, there still much potential to be explored.

We have been engaging in discussing whether there will be a third season. As the movie released last year with Blu-ray coming in July 18, we are going to have a recharge of the K-ON! passion. However, we won’t expect the third season to come out this soon, but there might be some related announcement coming in the next issue of the magazine if the rumor turns out to be true.

Update: It appears the rumor will be true according to ANN. We will get back to this upon confirmation later this week. Stay tuned

K-ON! Movie Blu-ray in July

We are more than happy to learn that the Blu-ray/DVD of the movie of TV Anime K-ON! will be coming this summer, on July 18. With a box office revenue of 1.7 billion yen (21 million USD), K-ON! is the most successful Anime movie last year. The reason behind the success, which may hugely result in the story and character that are supported by a huge fan base. Even people who don’t usually watch Anime find themselves enjoy the series. As we discussed before about why people love K-ON!, 37% of K-ON! fans are women and 15% of the audience of K-ON! don’t watch Anime frequently.

Last but not least, based on the fact that the company has made so much money, probably it’s time to consider a third season. However, we don’t have any news about a new season, and if you are interested in the show, probably you should consider include Kokoro Connect to your summer watch list.

TV Anime Kokoro Connect in Summer

TV Anime Kokoro Connect (ココロコネクト, lit. Heart Connect) announced earlier this month that the series will be aired this Summer, starting from July. The confirmation of the Anime adaptation of the original novel dated back in Fall last year. Since the novel as well as the upcoming Anime will feature the same illustrator Horiguchi Yukiko (堀口悠紀子), who happened to be the character design of K-ON!, we are likely to expect a new boom in this summer.

According to the announcement, the TV Anime will be produced by SILVER LINK (シルバーリンク), an Anime studio has a great focus on detail and graphics. The studio produced Baka Test, C3 and you could have lots of confidence on the quality.

Ask the Commenters: Why do You Watch K-ON?

MAL has an interesting topic on their forum regarding a comparative analysis of K-ON! fans with three other titles performed by ASCII Research Institute. ASCII concluded that the series received well to the general public, especially young women who don’t watch Anime frequently. The research reveals that 37% of K-ON! fans are women while only 10% of the audience are female for Strike Witches 2. This is reasonable since Strike Witches 2 is basically a fan service series for Lolicon and male and there seems to be few reasons that female should watch it. To prove my thought, around 70% of fans of Kuroshitsuji (Black Butler, 黒執事) are female.

Furthermore, 15% of the audience of K-ON! don’t watch Anime frequently, while all the audience of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica are regular Anime fans. Well, to further illustrate the idea behind this, take myself as example, I did watch K-ON! but not the rest of the three titles. And at the same time the Mahou Shoujo Anime stays on my Hard Drive collecting dust.

K-ON! Movie ED Singing Unveil

Anime series K-ON! has just unveiled their ending theme song for the movie on the official website. With a title of Singing, the ED is quite an impressive track compared with all the songs the cute band performed. Together with the opening theme and insert track Unmei wa Endless!, the ED will be released on December 7. You can find the related order information on Amazon Japan.

We have talked about the movie of the series which is coming this December, with a story around the graduate trip of the club to London, the city of music. The trailer was already out, which provides you a bit insight of how the story is going to be.

Light Novel Kokoro Connect Anime Adaptation Announced

According to the Gamers, light novel series Kokoro Connect (ココロコネクト, lit. Heart Connect) is green-lit for Anime. One of the highlight is that the illustration of the novel has a extremely similar character design as K-ON! which took me a while to identify. If you take a look at the following promotion video without notice, you probably end up with a conclusion that K-ON! (けいおん) is going to have a love comedy series. That is because the illustrator (Horiguchi Yukiko, 堀口悠紀子) of the light novel happened to be the same person as the character designer of Anime K-ON!. Similarly, the Anime of the series will be produced by Kyoto Animation, which more or less increase our confidence, even they produced something like Nichijou before. If you like the K-ON! cute style and like to see a short hair version of Mio and long hair version of Ritsu, wait for more updates coming.

Written by Sadanatsu Anda (庵田定夏), Kokoro Connect is a 5-way love pentagon comedy revolves around three girls and two boys. At clubhouse room 401, there gathers “anything goes” members of the culture study society. Pro-wrestling otaku Taichi Yaegashi, mysterious beauty Iori Nagase, cool Himeko Inaba, the clown Yoshifumi Aoki and fancy-loving Yui Kiriyama found the noisy but calm days suddenly come to a halt. The personality switched among the members. The unnatural days of changinging into “someone” by getting back to “themselves” by becoming “someone else” has started! (Plot via MAL)

These are all the information we have currently. So far, still no idea in what type the Anime will be present. It could be either a TV Aime or a movie instead. Stay tuned, will bring more updates.

Extra One Episode K-ON!! Anime Keikaku in November

According to the official website of TBS Channel in Japan, an extra K-ON! Anime will be aired this November. Titled Keikaku (計画), the extra episode seems to be an unaired episode of the second season of the TV series, which is also included in the BD/DVD of the series. The website also mentions that the extra episode has a direct connection with the K-ON! movie coming this December. From the screenshot we can see, the episode will be the discussion of the destination of the graduation trip.

As we are all waiting impatiently for the arrival of the movie this December, however, for fans outside Japan, it is not possibile to get our hands on the footage in at least half a year. And at that time, we could probably talk about the rumor of the third season.

It also reminds me another rumor in the coming November, Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito which was rumored to be an OVA and will be released next month. Well, the possibility is a bit low in this case. We will keep you posted. Stay tuned.

K-ON! Movie Full Trailer Streamed

The official website of TV Anime series K-ON! began streaming the full trailer for the movie which will be premiered on December 3rd this Winter in over 130 theaters in Japan. According to ACC, the trailer originally debuted in Japanese theaters on Saturday. For more information about the coming movie, we have a roundup to take care of everything you may want to know about the movie.

K-ON! Movie Roundup

Recently we have received several pieces of news and related topics of the upcoming movie of TV Anime series K-ON! which will open on December 3rd in over 130 theaters in Japan. But for most fans outside of Japan, the BD/DVD release, in most cases, will be schedule around half-year after the premiere. In this post, we gather all the information to help fans learn what they want to know about movie.

The Story: London

If you still remember what happen in the last few episodes of the second season of the series, you would know that the girls were planning a graduate trip but haven’t decided where to go. In the movie, according to the introduction on the official website, the decision was made and all the five members go to London. So, we have a combination of several key words: girls, band, London, trip. What will come to your mind? Beatles! So, this is the suggestion by Mio and the girls draw lots and Mio wins.

However, as you can see in the movie poster, all the five girls are wearing winter clothes while they should have graduated around March. Well, March is still cold I think.

Music

When you mention K-ON!, you cannot fail to talk about the music. And this time too, according to Aki Toyosaki (豊崎愛生), the voice actress of Yui, the new songs are under process and the new CM which use the song will be released on September 3rd.

The Bad Thing: Riots in London & Disasters in Japan

London is not always a save place to go, at least not at this moment. If you put an eye on the news you will find how panic London citizens are now. Of course, we don’t think our female protagonists have anything to do with the riots but we just want our readers to know more about what’s happening around. Read more about the events here.

One of our reader Juan C sent me a pic of the earthquake happened in Japan this year. We have seen big disasters happened every year and in 2011, it was Japan that suffered the most. Let’s just pray for those souls that suffered.
