Five months before the actual airing of the TV Anime next Spring in April 2012, the official website was just launched on December 1st, and together, the Anime graphics were revealed. Have (or not) some expectation on the Anime but not sure about what kind of the story it will be except Yuri? Check out the official website for a free preview of the first chapter of the Manga.

Deja vu? You probably have already seen some similar pics of the original Anime Saki, or maybe the dressing of the protagonist reminds you of someone of series Strike Witches. Now you learn who the protagonist is in the above image. At this point, I will not discuss whether she is actually wearing her pants (or whatever), or it’s some kind of high-tech transparent material that will keep you warm during the winter. Quite like the first season of the series and cannot wait for this one. It should be as good as the first one.

]]> According to Shonen GanGan magazine, a new TV Anime of Saki (咲-saki-), the Manga spin-off series titled Saki Achika Hen: episode of side A (咲-saki-阿知賀編 episode of side-A) will be aired in April 2012, that is next Spring. We talked about this scheduled announcement last month and we knew there will be a new Anime of the series coming. And now, here it is. Instead of a second season, we have a brand new Anime series adapted from the spin-off Manga. Noted we have reported about the spin-off Manga project this Summer and the Manga was available since September.

Recently we have noticed two different headlines around the web. One as we mentioned above, but the other tells us that the second season of the series will be aired in April 2012 instead. As far as we can tell from the above scan, the second season of the series is not coming, at least not this Winter. The Manga of the main story line of the series is just around its 90th chapter, not quite enough for a second season production with the first season ending around 60th chapter.

Unfortunately, we were not able to identify what magazine it is, neither it was mentioned on the source website. And if you are staying with us, you should noticed that the rumor of a second season first raised back in early June and later it was confirmed that there would be a new TV Anime series.

However, whether it will be a second season or a totally brand new project, we still unknown. From the currently process of the original Manga, it probably won’t be able to make a whole second season featuring another 25 episodes. ]]> So it dated back for a while when we talking about whether there will be a second season of Anime series Saki and we left the question behind us for an update coming upon the release of the 8th volume of the Manga on June 25th. Happily we are ahead of our schedule and we are able to get the news update today.

According to the pic below from the latest volume of the Manga, a new TV Anime Project of Saki (咲-saki-) has been green-lit for production. Also a new spin-off Manga series Saki Achika Hen: episode of side A (咲-saki-阿知賀編 episode of side-A) was announced and will be available in the September issue of GanGan. It will be illustrated by Aguri Igarashi (五十嵐あぐり), who also made illustrations for Bamboo Blade if you remembered.

So far, we have no confirmed source whether it would be a second season or simply a new project. But think again, you might find out that it should be a second season otherwise they won’t put such a title on the original Manga jacket. As we all know that Anime Saki has no other side stories except the coming spin-off one. Correct me if I got this wrong. Will bring more updates on the date and other details. Stay tuned.

You might notice some changes occurred to TheAkiba, including the layout, sidebar. I’ve read through some articles regarding high usage of server CPU and Memory, some argues that the theme does contribute a lot to the issue. So I turned back to my previous theme for a couple of days to see whether the usage drops. It’s true, it drops. Guess my current theme uses too much JQuery scripts. Still fixing the problem but it’s much better than before now.

Got a Flickr pro account yesterday and trying to get backup of my photos. Just found a great online service Dropbox which can be used to sync your files on the HD. Free account can get a max storage of 5GB (2GB at first) by referrals.

Tons of Anime this month. Confused and don’t know which to watch? We’ve got a watching guide but it was only an brief introduction and nothing more. Here I’d like to share some really nice Animes of high quality both in story and character design with you. Some of them are shown in the previous post and some of them don’t. This is just a list of Anime that I enjoy, if you have more, share them! Here we go.

咲-Saki-

First time watching this Anime, I felt like I’m watching Strike Witches (check out the pic of Miyafuji Yoshika (宮藤 芳佳) below ^^) or Sky Girls. Watched further, the Anime was just awesome. Apart from the overall high quality of the screen and character design, the story itself is also attractive. The story line based on the original Manga series is really worth watching.

To be frankly I seldom play Mahjong. Even you can play well it has lots of rules and these rules can be quite different among nations, say, China and Japan (not sure but seems totally different).

Eden of The East / 東のエデン

Another great series indeed. I didn’t have much interests in this series in the first place basically since the character design is not quite my style. Later mentioned by Akibarika in the comment and I decided to take a tour. Great, the overall performance is of high level, the first time I watched the OP I got totally attracted by the way the Anime expressed itself. And now to me, this is a must watch, cheers! Emm…This one? Sure, guess it will be the best Anime of this season. Compared with other high quality Anime K-ON! seems plain, but thanks to Mio Akiyama, the Anime leap out of the circle.

Valkyria Chronicles / 戦場のヴァルキュリア

Valkyria Chronicles is originally a PlayStation 3 game, you can read more on the official website for the background of the game and the Anime. I don’t have PS3 so I have no comments on the game. And about the Anime, this is truly well done. Highly recommended.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood / 鋼の錬金術師

What can I say about this Anime? Everybody knows it and everybody seems to be interested in the story even though we have already finished watching the whole story. The so-called “second season” comes with the manga story line, to those who haven’t read the manga or watched the first season, definitely check it out.
