According to the pic below, the SPECIAL box of series To Aru Kagaku no Railgun (とある科学の超電磁砲, A Certain Scientific Railgun) will be released on August 31 containing music, illustraoins and everything fans may like. It also mentioned that with all the content inside the box, fans will be quite satisfied even the second season of the series has not yet arrived. To interpret this message, we can get the basic idea about the process of the second season which is, may not be able to come in this year with the release date of the special box on late August. But luckily, we finally confirmed it is coming even though there were rumors quite a while ago. As fans may have already noticed, the series, including To Aru Majutsu no Index has a preference of being aired in October. We have the first season of To Aru Majutsu no Index aired back in October 2008 and the second season in October 2010. As for To Aru Kagaku no Railgun, the first season was aired in October 2009, thus it would be a better guess if we assume it will be aired in October 2011, this year. But as we have interpreted above, we may not able to have it this year and guess why they made an OVA for the delay. As for the schedule of the airing, our guess is it could be around Winter or Spring season next year, that is January or April 2012.Stay tuned and we will bring the latest updates.
