With the upcoming release of ‘Highschool DxD’ (ハイスクールD×D) on the 3DS this month, it was about time PSVita owners got a similar Ecchi release over on their platform. With the announcement of To Love Ru Darkness: Battle Ecstasy, that moment has finally arrived. Scheduled for a release in Japan May 22nd 2014, Battle Ecstasy features popular characters from the ‘To Love Ru: Darkness’ (To LOVEる -とらぶる- ダークネス) Anime/Manga series.
To Love Ru Darkness: Battle Ecstasy is set to include two different core elements of gameplay. One being a dungeon crawler, which Puts you in control of Rito. Establishing your Harem as you fight through hordes of foes. The other resembling a Visual Novel, giving you the chance to communicate with your favorite heroines from the ‘To Love Ru’ series. Players have also been told to expect full touch screen capabilities, enabling you to develop your relationships with the characters not only through conversation, but also with the use of the front and rear touch screens. The full extent as to the limits of the touchscreen controls are still unconfirmed, yet I can take a good guess at what this feature may entail.
But that’s not all, those willing to go the extra mile can purchase a limited edition version of the game. Which includes the game itself, Limited Edition packaging and Konjiki No Yami bed sheets. Jolly good!
Being both a fan of the ‘To Love Ru’ series, and a Vita owner. Having the chance to play ‘To Love Ru’ on the go is something I’m very much going to look forward to in the following year, leaving me with somewhat decent expectations of what could be an interesting title.
The standard version of the game is set to retail at 6980 JPY (Approximately $67/€49/£41). With the Limited edition being sold at 8980 JPY (Approximately $87/€63/£53). Exclusively for PSVita.
