TYPE-MOON Ace1

20090122002

I’ve seen this many times before but not get to know it until recent. TYPE-MOON Ace (TYPE-MOONエース), firstly published by Kadokawa Shoten (角川書店) as a Comp Ace magazine spinoff, was released on April 21st, 2008. As a late TYPE-MOON fans, I poked around lots of sites to find information on this issue but in vain partly because of the inability of my poor Japanese, and partly because the insufficient info on the web. The issue which was originally sold at 780 YEN had been overpriced in some other countries, or unavailable in some regions.

TYPE-MOON is about to release its latest ACG game Mahoutsukai no Yoru (魔法使いの夜, Witch of the Holy Night) in January.

Wiki: Mahoutsukai no Yoru (魔法使いの夜, Mahoutsukai no Yoru? lit. A Magician’s Night), officially subtitled as Witch on the Holy Night, is a novel written by Type-Moon co-founder Kinoko Nasu, initially released on July 28, 1996. After the successes of his later visual novel works Tsukihime and Fate/stay night, Type-Moon announced that it was working on the story as its latest visual novel project, with further details of the project to be published in Type-Moon Ace. It was later announced that the visual novel is slated for release sometime in 2009 and will cost a retail price of 6,800 yen.

Some other notes about the novel, read more on Akihabara Channel.

Mahoutsukai on Yoru, or Mahoyo for short, roughly translates to “A Magician’s Night” while “Witch on a Holy Night” is the subtitle. This is actually the title of Type-Moon writer, Kinoko Nasu’s earlier novels, even before he started the Type-Moon doujin circle. It was said on a couple of interviews in the past that supposedly it was straight-forwardly his best work that he’s written, but since it’s a rather old piece of work, he was too embarassed to release it to the public in the original shape.

The recreation of Tsukihime, it seems that Takashi Takeuchi (武内崇, the illustrator of most of the artwork of TYPE-MOON, he works with Nasu Kinoko who’s the novel creator of TYPE-MOON. They have a Doujin Circle called The BAMBOO BROOM, JP: 竹箒) is about to redraw all his work ^^

I definately want to get this one whether in a digital form or in paper. But my work doesn’t seem to pay off. Still looking for some information about the issue (the latest one can be found on the official website of TYPE-MOON), if anyone has any thing about the topic, I’m glad to be informed ^^

TYPE-MOON has just released it’s latest artbook CONCEPT on 9th this month. The book contains about 130 pages and labeled at about 200o YEN, will bring more on this.
