However, as Yui offers a solution — writing a note on your hand — Kyouko’s attention is quickly diverted to solving the mystery behind Akari’s mysterious hair-buns, leaving the homework untouched. After school, Yui reveals now having a place of her own, to the surprise (and envy) of her friends. Thus on holiday, as Yui is nonchalantly perusing a book in her apartment, Kyouko pays a surprise visit — immediately being enamored by the luxurious amenities. After being unable to locate any trace of ‘provocative underwear’ and complaining of hunger, Yui decides to invite Akari and Chinatsu over for dinner. As the two arrive, they are likewise impressed by the space, and especially excited when catching a glimpse of the menu: Yui’s famous omlette rice. Upon discovering they are missing miso, Kyouko makes a stop to the local market, but of course the experience cannot follow through without little playful harassment. As the group wraps-up with dinner and a final few ‘Oishiis’, Chinatsu comes across an old photo album belonging to Yui, prompting the question of how long the other three have been friends. Although vaguely knowing it had something to do with the friendship of their parents, the three are unsure as to the details of their initial acquaintanceship. Meanwhile, in one of Kyouko’s comedic-fits, she spills juice on Chinatsu’s uniform — earning her the privilege of using Yui-sempai’s bath and even wearing her clothes. But as Chinatsu enters the bathroom, she is greeted by Kyouko already contently bathing. Despite her usual pesteringly-comedic personality, Kyouko does posses a softer side — both extremes are undoubtedly directed towards Yui. As Akari and Chinatsu finally depart, Yui finds Kyouko snacking on Rum Raisin ice cream while reading manga, in her bed, while wearing her pajamas. Luckily, Yui’s good-spiritedness takes over and the two spend the night playing games and eating ramen as they display a more ‘intimate’ side to their friendship. Just as Kyouko is about to slip off to sleep, she bolts awake remembering her unfinished homework. Taking most of the night, Yui and Kyouko make a late start to school as their lives again return to normal.ImpressionsBoo~ Kyouko’s antics, granted they cause overall stress between the members of the Amusement Club (and pretty much everyone else), are undeniably a highlight in the Yuru Yuri series. Although I suspect sugar is somehow involved, Kyouko possesses an energy essential in providing the ‘Amusement’- part to the four-way friendship. Notably less ‘yuri’ in episode 3 than last week’s soap opera, but comedy always trumps drama, right? Don’t worry, though. With Kyouko in the spotlight, you’re bound to have quite a few Chinatsu-fantasies. It is also an interesting, yet probably expected twist discovering Yui’s private apartment located in a prior art studio block. Of course, the space remains immaculate — I mean, we are talking about Yui-sempai here — and the food rivals that of oba-chan.So, although episode 3 generally remains Yui/Kyouko-focused, with the last episode highlighting Ayano, Chitose, Sakurako, and Himawari, it can only be a matter of time before we make it around to Chinatsu and Akari — along with whom I’m sure some light will be shed on her mysterious younger sister.
